Autumn is here – and before the days become shorter, greyer and, most importantly, colder, we had to make the most of the fantastic weather with another outdoor shoot.
Just in time for Oktoberfest season, model Simi was back in front of my camera. But instead of going for classic Bavarian romance, we wanted to give the theme our own interpretation: feminine, glamorous and, of course, with high heels.
A dirndl, braided hair, white stockings and black heels formed the basis of our look. Add a natural outdoor location, lush greenery and plenty of late-summer sunshine, and we had the perfect ingredients for combining traditional Bavarian style with a modern glamour and fashion aesthetic.
The light was particularly exciting that day. The lower autumn sun created strong contrasts, warm highlights and beautiful backlighting. For some of the shots, we deliberately made this part of the visual style: lots of sunlight, a touch of lens flare and that special atmosphere somewhere between late summer and the beginning of autumn.
Simi and I have been working together for many years now, which allows us to work very spontaneously and experiment with new ideas – from classic portraits to fashion and glamour as well as our calendar productions. This little series was no exception: what started as a simple dirndl idea quickly developed into a complete look with its own visual character.
And of course, it wouldn't really be a Sedarts shoot if we simply kept the dirndl completely traditional. 😉
Bavarian Glam combines the playful aesthetics of the classic dirndl with feminine styling, long legs, high heels and a touch of editorial fashion.
The first ten images from the series are now available in the new gallery.
Enjoy Simi and our little excursion into Bavarian Glam!
